The stabbing occurred following an altercation and the injured student was transported to a nearby hospital. School officials said Plainfield Police are investigating the incident and are offering support and counseling services to students.
The following day, an armed weapon was dropped into a dumpster by an unidentified individual at Cedarwood K-8 Center at 2:50 p.m., school officials said. The Plainfield Police Department, school Division of Safety and administrators responded
"We want to assure our community that there was no direct threat to students or staff on the premises, and our security measures were quickly and effectively implemented," the district said in a statement. "We will keep our community informed as the investigations progress."
